Moria Barber
Elk River K9 proudly introduces to you, Moria
Barber. Moria came to us through an internship program from the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, Minnesota. Even though
her internship ended, Elk River K9 wasn’t ready to let this bright young woman go.
Since completing her internship, she has earned
an Animal Science degree from the University of Minnesota with a concentration on Companion Animals. Moria has been a breath
of fresh air and an enjoyable addition to Elk River K9’s training center since arriving in April 2006. Her endless
desire to learn and her skill at always being on the ball have been a source of inspiration to both the staff and students
at the training center.
As a child, Moria lived with a TerriPoo. During
this same period, she was bitten by a dog, which created within her a drive to prevent children from being bitten by dogs.
This mission has guided her approach to safely teaching people of all ages to interact with their canine companions.
Moria is training her Labrador Retrievers
to compete in AKC and UKC Obedience, Agility and Hunting competitions. She has also been practicing her skills in Conformation
and hopes to have an opportunity to try her hand at showing in that venue too.
Her attitude, compassion and desire to help Elk River K9’s clients with their dogs makes
her an excellent addition to our team. Moria is currently teaching Puppy classes and is in Elk River K9’s dog training
apprenticeship to teach additional classes.
